eCarQuotes.com Discourages Buyers From Accepting General Motor’s Total Confidence Offering

eCarQuotes is requesting that customers not accept the latest offering from General Motors.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Apr 03, 2009 – On Tuesday, March 31st, 2009, General Motors conducted a press conference to announce a new buyer incentive program.  The details of the GM Total Confidence Program were unveiled the day after Fritz Henderson was installed as the new CEO.  GM is offering new car buyers a subsidy of $500.00 per month for a total of $4,500.00 over a 9 month period of time.  The subsidy payments are contingent on being unemployed, and confirmed by receiving unemployment benefits.

eCarQuotes is requesting that customers not accept this offering from General Motors.  There are three (3) moral problems with this incentive.

Firstly, GM is appealing to buyers that may not have secure jobs.  In the middle of a weak economy, it is wrong to encourage the weakest among the population to make a huge investment on credit.  In any other generation, those unsure of their ability to retain their jobs would be encouraged to find economical, stable, somewhat-used transportation.  Once they saved some cash, and the economy improved, they could consider a new car or a better used car. They certainly would not commit to a loan of tens of thousands of dollars.

Secondly, GM is likely scheduled to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy fifty-none (59) days after the announcement by Fritz Henderson.  This places the liability of up to $4,500.00 per car on the American taxpayer.  If a bankrupt foreign manufacturer offered a post-bankruptcy incentive, it would be derailed by taxpayer groups.  It would never be implemented.  General Motors should be no different.

The third reason eCarQoutes.com discourages buyers from participating in the GM Total Confidence plan is the warranty itself.  GM should offer a reasonable warranty such as 24,000 mile / 24month.  It is unethical to offer an extended warranty knowing they are likely to file for bankruptcy in 59 days.  Would there be an outcry if GM had offered a 1,000,000 mile / lifetime warranty?

What if the buyer is very secure in his or her employment, and are confident in the economy being stronger in the future?  This can be answered in one of two possibilities.  If GM is financing the $4,500.00 in incentives to the unemployed, they are having to build the cost into every new car.  This makes GM even less competitive, if other manufacturers are not doing it.  If GM is expecting the government taxpayers to pay the $4,500.00, it is morally wrong as defined above.

eCarQuotes had helped buyers compare car prices since 2003 and has never discouraged buyers from buying.  This offering, however, should not be accepted by buyers.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Feb 09, 2009 – eCarQuotes.com provides pricing on a total of 2,178 make and model combinations for 2009 vehicles. The 2,178 make/model combination is a 413% increase over 2008 quantities, where they provided pricing for 527 make/model combinations.

This year they are providing pricing on the following domestic and foreign lines: Acura, Audi, Buick, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, LandRover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pontiac, Porche, Saab, Saturn, Scion, Smart, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.

The increase in the number of vehicles is related to the increased number of automotive lines as well as the increased specialization within each line.  This increased specialization is the key to providing shoppers with the best possible price for their choice vehicle, not just the general make and model.  Details, performance criteria and features are addressed by many of the manufacturers.  For example, Ford Motor Company has 317 make and model combinations for 2009.  By providing consumers the ability to “drill-down” to their exact needs, eCarQuotes and its affiliates can provide the shopper with free pricing for the exact vehicle that fits their needs.  In 2009, many more models are offered in both conventional gasoline powered offerings and hybrid counterparts.

The pricing form has also been streamlined to provide the fastest quote engine in the industry. Many car companies are experiencing the most difficult times in the history of their respective companies.  The free service of eCarQuotes.com can provide consumers with terrific comparison pricing that can be used to negotiate the best possible price on a new car, truck or SUV.

eCarQuotes (http://eCarQuotes.com) has provided consumers with pricing data on new cars, trucks and SUV since January 2003.  eCarQuotes.com is a subsidiary of GoldCrayon (http://GoldCrayon.com)  GoldCrayon specializes in marketing for the automotive and related industries.  For additional information, contact Dave Sherman 903-375-5904 or sherman@goldcrayon.com.
